ATV Rider Course (All-Terrain Vehicle)
Duration: 6½ to 8 hours
Format: In-person training with classroom and practical components
The Canadian Safety Council’s ATV Rider Course is a nationally recognized program focused on preparing riders to operate all-terrain vehicles in a variety of field conditions safely. The course is hands-on, engaging, and instructor-led to ensure each participant learns by doing.
What’s Covered:
ATV controls and operation fundamentals
Pre-ride inspections and vehicle readiness
Navigating turns, hills, uneven terrain, and obstacles
Safe practices for trail and worksite operation
Risk awareness and situational judgment
Rules of courtesy and communication
Audience:
The course is designed for both new and experienced ATV operators. A youth version is available for participants under 14, with parental involvement required.
Certification:
Participants receive a Canadian Safety Council certificate upon successful completion.
UTV Rider Course (Side-by-Side / Utility Terrain Vehicle)
Duration: 6½ to 8 hours
Format: In-person, with classroom theory and closed-course practical exercises
The Safe UTV Operations Course teaches participants how to safely and adequately operate side-by-sides in both recreational and worksite environments. The course covers both the physical handling of the machine and the behavioural expectations of responsible UTV use.

UTV driving fundamentals and control systems
Equipment limitations and safe worksite integration
Terrain reading and hazard navigation
Emergency handling and rollover avoidance
Proper use of restraints, helmets, and PPE
Decision-making, communication, and responsibility
Certification:
Participants are awarded a Canadian Safety Council UTV course certificate upon completion of the program.
